Small Business Workflow Manager

Yates Whitaker LLP Chartered Professional Accountants is a mid-sized boutique firm filled with a team of enthusiastic and entrepreneurial individuals. We are currently looking for a Small Business Workflow Manager to join our team. This is a new position and we are looking for a Designated Professional who would like move away from managing clients and reviewing files, but would like to create their own workflow process and training systems for the Firm. The successful incumbent must enjoy facilitating, working with the staff on their training needs and assisting preparers with any general file work questions they may have. You must have experience working in Public Practice and understand the process for compilation, tax and assurance files. We are looking for an individual who enjoys being or would like to be a career Manager. Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the capacity planner and day-to-day workflow of files

  • Assigning file work to Preparers

  • Maintaining the absence scheduler to coincide with the capacity planner

  • Responding to ongoing staff inquiries on general file work

  • Liaising with other members of the management team on file assignment and staff training needs

  • Providing recommendations and solutions on the Firm’s training needs

  • Designing and delivering staff development programs from student onboarding to supervisory levels

Your Attributes:

  • A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

  • 3 to 5 years of experience working in Public Practice

  • Exceptional facilitation, workflow planning and communication skills

  • Ability to build relationships, motivate and encourage team members

  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills

  • Proficiency in iFirm, Cloud TaxPrep, MS Excel, Caseware and DocIt

  • Workflow or project management certification would be an asset
